Nadia TanFilm Editor
I began editing on a Steenbeck with 16mm film and a mag track and I’ve been hooked ever since. Now I am fluent in both Avid and Final Cut Pro and I continue to edit everything from the traditional drama to documentary to the wildly experimental.
My approach is to be a chameleon. Every project has its own unique needs and my goal is to match the editing style to the subject in order to create a specific language and rhythm for the piece.
I work closely with directors to establish an editing style and to explore the film medium as a method of communication. I enjoy the filmmaking process because of the creative opportunities it offers, but mostly because I love to tell stories.
Previous work includes feature films, dramatic shorts, documentaries, new media, music videos and short animations.
I currently live in Toronto and have a Mac Pro editing system with Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro.
one of your obligations as an editor is to drench yourself in the sensibility of the film, to the point where you’re alive to the smallest details and the most important themes. Walter Murch
